Dennis Paul (Danny) Gawiuk was born at Mount Cartier on November 1, 1930. He grew up on the farm and farmed the land himself until it was purchased by BC Hydro. In 1967, he burned down the old log house where he had been born to clear the land for the Arrow Lakes reservoir.
