Last Trip of SS Minto at Burton, 1954
Revelstoke Museum and Archives photograph 1486.
The last trip of the SS Minto on April 23, 1954, was an emotional journey for many people. The passenger list was full, and the boat carried a huge cedar wreath across its bow. Captain R.S. Manning was at the helm for the final voyage. At every port of call, people paused to pay tribute to the ship, and a bagpiper piped at last farewell at one of the stops.
The last trip signalled the end of an era on the Arrow Lakes.
