Moving the McKinnon Log House, 1967
Revelstoke Museum and Archives photograph 7145.
Delia McKinnon made one thing clear – she was not about to lose her home that she had lived in since 1916. When the family was forced to close their dairy operation, they had the old log farmhouse moved to Nichol Road, across the Illecillewaet River and up the hill from its original location. Apex Moving Company loaded the house onto its large flatbed truck and drove the house across the Illecillewaet River, assisted by a Caterpillar on the front end. Then the movers did the same thing with one of the family barns!
