Post marking Mount Revelstoke Auto Road, 1969
Revelstoke Museum and Archives photograph 1376. Photographer: Estelle Dickey.
This post was planted at the site of the current Revelstoke Golf Club in August 1912 to mark the beginning of the road to the summit of Mount Revelstoke. The post was taken up and stored for safe-keeping when BC Hydro built the dyke along the Columbia at the Golf Course. After the dyke was completed and the second nine holes built, the post was replaced as close as possible to its original position. It was unveiled during the Golf Club opening ceremonies in June 1976.
