In 1991, Northeastern Archaeological Associates carried out additional excavations at the site. They concluded that the site was the location of a village that refugees established on their relocation to the island in 1648 while others fled from Ossossané in May of 1649. Over 400 metres of longhouse area from multiple houses were excavated by hand, resulting in the definition of three seemingly narrow and short longhouses, although the researchers believed as many as 80–100 houses existed at the site.
