Bronze Chapel Bell

Orr, R.B. “New Accessions to Museum.” Annual Archaeological Report of Ontario 13 (1918): p.116
ca. 1637
“From Chapel of Fort Ste. Marie II, Christian Island, found by John Copycog in 1917, when digging his garden near the ruins of the Fort. The bell was evidently carried from Ste. Marie on the Wye and may have been carried thence from La Conception at the time of the Flight and Dispersion in 1651. La Conception was the first wooden church built in Huronia in 1637.” exerpt from AARO: 116
The above report was recorded in the original accession record of this bell.
