First employee picnic at Brome Lake

This photo was taken at the first Bruck Silk Mills employee picnic on August 15, 1939 at Brome Lake. At the time the company employs more than 500 people and takes an active part in the social life of the workers of Cowansville and the region. Seated among the employees in the second row (near the centre) are President and Founder Isaac Bruck and Vice-President Leopold Lee. In the background, a truck displaying the company’s name is part of this historic moment, which takes place a few weeks before the beginning of the Second World War.
