Portrait of Isaac I. Bruck (1885-1948), Founder and President of Bruck Silk Mills Limited. Originally from the small town of Zloczow in Poland (now located in Ukraine) Isaac Bruck immigrates to the United States in 1904. He joins some of his family in New York and becomes part of a community of Jewish immigrants from Eastern Europe who are very active in the textile industry. He quickly makes his mark and works namely for the New York-based B. Hyman and Shevell Company and the Regal Silk Company, where business relationships are often overlaid by family ties. It is to Leopold S. Lee, to whom he is related through his maternal grandfather, that Bruck entrusts the management of the Cowansville factory from the moment of its foundation.
