2nd Place Lowest Injury Award
Arnprior and District Museum Collection: 1988.53.53
This certificate was awarded to the Arnprior plant in 1973 for having the second lowest injury frequency rate across the Huyck plants.
Those injured on site were often treated by Dr. John H. Box, a founding member of the Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital. Aside from treating the injured, Dr. Box carried out medical exams for Kenwood Mills and Huyck to screen applicants to ensure that all workers were able to safely do their job.
If a worker was injured, the union ensured their medical costs were paid. The mill gave the employee time off to recover and welcomed them back when they were ready.
