Advertisement for the Purchase of Wool
Arnprior and District Museum Collection
It wasn’t only textile producers who were looking to purchase raw wool. This advertisement, placed in The Arnprior Chronicle‘s Friday, July 12, 1912 newspaper by James Guthrie who owned a general store in nearby Kinburn, Ontario, shows the power of newsprint to source wool from local farmers.
Whether placed by mill or store owners, ads of this kind always promised the seller the highest market value for their goods. As extra incentive, Guthrie’s store offered the trade of already manufactured yarns and textiles.
