A close-up of the end of the south breakwater, showing the foghorn. The foghorn was placed after the Great Storm of 1913. The inquest into the storm determined that this was a much more logical place for the foghorn, as more ships would be able to hear it in rough weather. The original location of the foghorn was a few hundred yards away from the lake, at the Electric Light & Water Plant (where the Marine Museum is located).
