This emergency lamp was to be used in the event of the loss of power. It would be lighted and raised up the masthead. The emergency lamp on display was found stored in a compartment of the Lionel Parsons. It had never been used. Whether it was on the original Howard M. Hanna Jr. will remain a mystery.
