This model of the Chantry Island Lighthouse and Keeper’s Quarters was on display as part of the Great Storm of 1913 exhibit. It was constructed by the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre. The actual lighthouse and keeper’s quarters are located in Bruce County. The lighthouse was built in 1855, stands 86 feet above the water and the tower is a total of 95 feet high. Today, the lighthouse is fully automated and powered by solar panels. The keeper’s quarters were unoccupied after 1954 and as a result, fell into disrepair. Restoration began in 1999, with stone masons being hired. The remainder of the work was done by local volunteers. It is now fully restored and open for summer tours.
