Human loss

Black and white photo of a long boatThe gravity of the Great Storm becomes even more apparent when considering the crews of the sunken ships. On average, the majority of the following ships had between 20 and 30 sailors on board who lost their lives: the Charles S. Price, the Isaac M. Scott, the Wexford, the Argus, the Hydrus, the Regina, the James Carruthers, the John A. McGean and the Henry B. Smith.

Contrary to the other boats that were lost in the storm, no bodies of the Isaac M. Scott crew were found.
