The Trail Riders of the Canadian Rockies were founded in 1923 by Dr. John Murray Gibbon who was chief publicist of the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) and A.C.’s boss. Through Gibbon’s connections at the CPR and the promise of drawing people to Banff and Lake Louise, his employer agreed to sponsor the Trail Riders’ group.
