Machine No. 8, measuring 206 feet in length, was designed in Sorel by Beloit and installed at Saint-Jérôme in 1965. Numerous festivities were held to mark its arrival at the plant, including a visit from Quebec Premier Jean Lesage. In 1980, the company increased the machine’s speed from 1,200 to 2,000 feet per minute.
