Such acclaim could not go unnoticed. The newspaper L’Avenir du Nord ran an article on the triumph of Superfine Linen Record at the 1900 Paris World’s Fair and recounted the pride of Saint-Jérôme’s citizens in the company:
[Translation]
“It was with pleasure and pride that we learned of the huge success earned at the Exposition universelle by the Rolland Paper Company. It received the Grand Prix for the quality and beauty of its white book paper. It must not be forgotten that the company had to compete against papers from all countries, and that the Grand Prix is the highest distinction awarded at the Exhibition. Rolland can thus be justly proud. This honour reflects especially on our mill managed by Mr. S.J.B. Rolland. Since this wonderful news arrived, flags have been flying happily over the mill, and at the homes of Mr. J.B. Rolland and Mr. Henri Rolland. We extend to Messrs Rolland our warm congratulations for this magnificent success which so greatly honours them and so clearly highlights our Canada in this grand competition of all the world’s nations, which is called the 1900 Exposition.”
