The first months of 1883 saw the installation of the plant equipment. The paper-making machine was the first component installed, followed by the other machines: the hydraulic turbines, rag cutter, dust collector, rotary boiler, beaters, calenders, etc. A dam was also built, diverting part of the river to the rear of the buildings. This provided power to the paper machine turbines in the mill’s sub-basement.
