Local trading posts were once along the Athabasca River with buildings on the far right-hand side belonging to the Hudson’s Bay Company, and on the far left was Gordon’s ranch house.
Indigenous homes and Métis tents rest between the two locations to trade at both posts. The Gordons were known as good, honest traders, and the Indigenous traders preferred them to the Hudson Bay Company.
