From 1960 to 1984, the MV Hopedale served isolated outports in Newfoundland and Labrador. It was well known in the Placentia Bay area as it served the communities of Petite Forte, South East Bight, Monkstown and Paradise as part of its south coast run. It visited these communities twice a week bringing the mail, passengers, food and every other supply the communities needed.
