Ruby King with Her Husband to Be

Ruby King and her future husband are shown near their home in Boat Hr. This picture was taken shortly after she returned home from St. John’s where she had been working as a housekeeper for Phillip Reitman’s family.  Mr. Reitman had come to Boat Harbour selling clothes and other goods. Ruby was part of a big family and when he said he was looking for someone to work with his wife, Ruby left and went to St. John’s with him the same day. She worked there for two years and kept in contact with the family for many years afterwards.
