Lieutenant Gerald Ingram Taylor was born on 15 December 1893 in Watford, ON. He enlisted as an officer with the 142^nd Canadian Infantry Battalion on 1 December 1915 in London, ON, having already served with the 7^th Fusiliers Regiment before the war. Upon arriving in Great Britain he was attached to the 4^th Reserve Battalion and the 11^st Btn. After spending time in hospital with influenza, Lieut. Taylor served as a burial officer with the 1^st Canadian Division in 1917. That year, Field Marshal Haig mentioned in dispatches Lieut. Taylor as an honourable officer with the 1^st Btn. On 16 October 1918 he was killed in action.

He is commemorated on page 510 of the First World War Book of Remembrance (Memorial Chamber, Peace Tower, Parliament Hill).
