Lieutenant Gerald Ingram Taylor was born on 15 December 1893 in Watford, ON. He enlisted as an officer with the 142nd Canadian Infantry Battalion on 1 December 1915 in London, ON, having already served with the 7th Fusiliers Regiment before the war. Upon arriving in Great Britain he was attached to the 4th Reserve Battalion and the 11st Btn. After spending time in hospital with influenza, Lieut. Taylor served as a burial officer with the 1st Canadian Division in 1917. That year, Field Marshal Haig mentioned in dispatches Lieut. Taylor as an honourable officer with the 1st Btn. On 16 October 1918 he was killed in action.
He is commemorated on page 510 of the First World War Book of Remembrance (Memorial Chamber, Peace Tower, Parliament Hill).
