Private Edmund George Moorhead

Edmund George Moorhead was one of four children to father of Scottish origin. While living in Montréal, Edmund was drafted under the Military Service Act of 1917; he was a Class One candidate. He signed his attestation papers on 9 October 1917, in the 2nd Depot Battalion, 2nd Québec Regiment. In April 1918, Edmund was discharged for transfer to the Royal Flying Corps. Shortly thereafter he fell ill. Pte. Moorhead was transferred to base hospital in Toronto, on 3 October 1918, and died eleven days later. Though he never saw active combat, he was buried with full military honours.

He is commemorated on page 591 of the First World War Book of Remembrance (Memorial Chamber, Peace Tower, Parliament Hill).
