Before the war, Moyer resided at 837 Lovett St., London, ON, with his wife and daughter, and was employed as a clerk. He enlisted with the 142nd Canadian Infantry Battalion in June 1916 at 33 years old. He was transferred to the 19th Canadian Machine Gun Company in March 1917 and arrived in France in March 1918. Pte. Moyer was awarded a Good Conduct Badge in the field on 1 January 1918. He was killed in action on 7 October 1918 during an operation west of Hanyecourt, France.
He is commemorated on page 475 on the First World War Book of Remembrance (Memorial Chamber, Peace Tower, Parliament Hill).
