Born in London, ON, on 10 August 1897, Lawrence Skelly was a cutter by trade. At age eighteen, he enlisted with the 135th Canadian Infantry Battalion, on 3 April 1916. Private Skelly had previously served a year and a half with the 7th Fusiliers Regiment. He transferred to the 18th Btn. on 9 December 1916. On 23 March 1917, Pte. Skelly was reported missing. By the next day the report had been changed to “killed in action.”
He is commemorated on page 326 of the First World War Book of Remembrance (Memorial Chamber, Peace Tower, Parliament Hill).
