Kingsmill enlisted on 10 January 1916 at the age of 30. He was a dry goods clerk at Kingsmills’, a famous department store in London, ON. He was living at 323 Queens Ave, London, ON, with his parents Mary and RF. He arrived in Great Britain in May 1916, and was transferred to the Canadian Machine Gun Depot in August of the same year. In November 1917, he transitioned to France where he was treated for syphilis the next 3 months. Pte. Kingsmill was posted to the 1st Canadian Motor Machine Gun Brigade on 29 March 1918 near Vimy Ridge, and was killed the same day.
He is commemorated on page 442 of the First World War Book of Remembrance (Memorial Chamber, Peace Tower, Parliament Hill).
