Sergeant Frank James Nickle, MM

Nickle was born on 24 May 1893 in London, ON. He lived with his parents, Thomas and Blanche Nickle, at 824 Queens St. Prior to the First World War, Nickle worked as a clerk at R.C. Struthers & Co. In 1916, he enlisted with the 63^rd Battery as a Gunner. One year later, after being promoted to the rank of Sergeant, Nickle was awarded the Military Medal for his valour under fire during the Battle of Passchendaele. Sgt. Nickle was killed in action on 28 March 1918 while serving with the 24^th Battery.

He is commemorated on page 478 of the First World War Book of Remembrance (Memorial Chamber, Peace Tower, Parliament Hill).
