U-69 commander Ulrich Gräf salutes a German Navy Kommodore on the deck of his U-boat before an inspection of his crew. The Kommodore was inspecting the U-boat crew after U-69’s eighth combat patrol during which it sank five Allied merchant ships in the Atlantic Ocean.
