Stewardess Bridget “Bride” Fitzpatrick was buried in the Old Roman Catholic Cemetery in Bay Roberts, Newfoundland. She was 61 years old when she died in the sinking of S.S. Caribou. She was the only woman in the Newfoundland Merchant Navy to be killed by enemy action in World War II.
Her name is also included on a War Memorial Plaque in Langford, British Columbia, which lists the eight Canadian women killed in service in the Merchant Navy in the two World Wars.
