This shows the covers of two books written about the sinking of S.S. Caribou. The first is Douglas How’s historical account Night of the Caribou. It tells the events from the viewpoints of those on S.S. Caribou, the Royal Canadian Navy sailors on S.S. Grandmere and the German Navy sailors on U-69. The book is based on archival documents, photographs and eyewitness accounts from the survivors.
The second is a children’s book Almost Home: The Sinking of the S.S. Caribou, which was written and illustrated by Jennifer Morgan. It features dozens of beautiful illustrations of the tragic events and tells many of the stories of the passengers and crew aboard the ferry that fateful night.
