Ernest Labelle on the service agreement between the Corporation du Moulin Légaré and the City of Saint-Eustache
Michaël Gravel and Corporation du Moulin Légaré
Ernest Labelle: I believe it was 2005, yes, in 2005, we were having discussions with the City, and they proposed that the responsibilities of the CML be expanded. Because there was the Musée des Patriotes opposite. I was on that Board of Directors as well. And things weren’t going very well. There was some friction with the Corporation because we didn’t see eye to eye on the objectives. Finally, the City proposed that the Corporation take everything over — promotion and the organization of tourist and cultural tours of the main historic buildings in Vieux-Saint-Eustache. In return, we signed a service agreement. So the City gave us an amount of money we would never have expected. They said, “It’s worth the investment”. We sat down together, calculated how much everything would cost, and then they gave the financial support to do it, to take care of everything. It’s been that way since 2005. It’s a service agreement with the City, and I can only say our relationship is perfectly harmonious.
