Jacques Lecours: “a citizens’ project”
Michaël Gravel et Corporation du Moulin Légaré
Jacques Lecours: I think we ensured that the project would be a citizens’ project. It wouldn’t be the City that managed the mill, but a group of citizens. We made sure that the mill would continue to exist. We made sure that the craft of milling was preserved, and we made sure there would be products to sell. Of course, the goal was also to open the mill to visitors. And I think in that respect, we did a good job from the start, because the mill was very popular. People were interested in coming and discovering this treasure right in the town. I think that was our contribution. We provided an excellent transition from a mill that was privately owned by the Légarés to one that was citizen-owned.
