John Brett, pioneer of rock climbing in Val-David

It is notable that John Brett was the first to identify the exceptional quality of the rock walls in Val-David, especially those of Mont Condor and Mont King. Brett also practised other sports in the region, notably Nordic skiing.

On the left of this photo, Brett is with his wife Elizabeth and all the members of the Montreal section of the Alpine Club of Canada (CAC Montreal section), which the Brett couple founded. The CAC Montreal section was at Hôtel La Sapinière during its Annual General Meeting in 1952.
