Although the Club de Montagne le Canadien (CMC) was a rock-climbing club of mainly French-speaking Montrealers, it rapidly took on an international flavour. Numerous new arrivals to Canada joined the club. During this period, the CMC was the central point around which rock climbing in Québec was organized.
