Thérèse Dumesnil, vice president of the Fédération des Clubs de Montagne du Québec (FCMQ) in the 1970s, played a vital role in the democratization of rock climbing in Québec. She wrote numerous articles on this sport which were published in the revue Madame au foyer and the “Perspectives-Dimanche” section of La Presse.
Mme Dumesnil chose to settle in Val-David village and start her family there. Her grandchildren are third-generation Québécois climbers. The Dumesnil family is one of only two with three generations of climbers.
