From Scotland to Verdun

Several Scottish associations sprang up in Verdun during the first half of the 20th century, including the Ladies Auxiliaries to the Order of Scottish Clans #98. In the photograph, Helen King D’All and her sister-in-law, Isobel Skillen King, are seen wearing the organization’s uniform. Helen King D’All was president of the organization for several years. Born in Scotland in 1901, she immigrated to Canada and lived on 3rd Avenue, in Verdun, with her husband, Harry Bruce D’All. Her son, Harry King D’All, enrolled in the Royal Montreal Regiment in 1939.
