Here is a photograph of a reception for young hockey players from the Crawford neighbourhood in the Maison Nivard-De Saint-Dizier, in 1954.
The Verdun Legion supported sports, cultural and community organizations with what resources it had. For example, on November 30, 1948, Branch 202 Crawford Park held a Christmas draw for a car (a Meteor) and the proceeds were used to promote sports and wellbeing in the community. In August 1958, the Legion worked with the Director of Recreation in Verdun to create a recreation centre in Crawford Park.
