This is the billionth cartridge made by Defense Industries Limited on November 26, 1943. A replica of this cartridge was given to each factory worker for the occasion.
During the Second World War, Canadian industries produced 4.4 billion cartridges, 132 million explosive projectiles (shells, grenades and mortar) and over 64 million shell casings for export.
