A report dated April 6th 1936 contains the oldest reference to Roc-d’Or. Written by an inspector of the Department of Mines, it says that almost all of the occupants of the 40 houses in the village sell liquor illegally. They also engage in “white slavery trade”, i. e. prostitution.
