Canadian poet Mona Gould wrote a poem called “Requiem for a Lovely Lady.” It was about Dr. Henrietta Banting. Gould sent the poem to Women’s College Hospital and the poem was displayed on the wall of the Cancer Detection Clinic.
Part of the poem reads:
“She could have lived her nights and days
In silks…in glossy…fur-
A sterile coat…a stethoscope
Ah…Much preferred by her.”
