Charlotte talks about caring for her uniform

Interviewer: […] were there any tricks or tips that you remember on how to care for your uniform?
Charlotte, Class of 1969: Well the hospital washed things. I think they even did the bibs and the aprons. They were two part. I think they did it so they could be starched. I think… I’m trying to remember whether we had to do the caps or whether I’m thinking of something else. I remember there was something that could even have been the cap that if you starched it at home, you could just plaster it against the refrigerator to make it nice and flat. And then of course you had to unfold it very carefully. It was more like origami, trying to fold the dear thing, because if you folded it the wrong way then you had to re-starch and start all over again because the lines would show. I think we may have done our own caps, or that might have been after I graduated.
