Canadian Merchant Navy and Royal Navy Sailors Lost on SS Rose Castle

The following 24 sailors died when the SS Rose Castle was torpedoed and sunk in the second U-boat attack at the Bell Island anchorage on November 2, 1942:

Their 19 crewmates survived the sinking, including three Newfoundlanders: Gordon Hardy from Rose Blanche, James Perry from Bauline and Frank Rees from Bell Island. A second Gordon Hardy from Ingonish, Nova Scotia also survived.
