This recruiting poster shows a British Merchant Navy officer in uniform holding binoculars and a coxswain at the wheel of their cargo ship. The poster’s slogan reads: “The life-line is firm thanks to the MERCHANT NAVY”. The life-line refers to the vital supplies carried by the Atlantic convoys from North America to Britain during World War II.
