Two stern torpedoes fired at 16:15 German Summer Time (or 11:45 Newfoundland Daylight Time) that sank SS Saganaga.
Data included in the report include the size of the target ship, the type of torpedoes and detonators (pistols), the torpedo tubes fired, the compass bearing of the U-boat and torpedoes, whether the torpedoes were fired on the surface or submerged, and the speed and bearing of the target ship. This data was entered into the U-boat’s torpedo data computer, which was used to aim the torpedoes at the target ship.
